Settings

Settings is organized into four tabs: Game, Application, Advanced, and About. The Game tab holds per-game configuration; the other tabs hold global options and project information.

The absolute path to the active game’s installation root. Modrex auto-detects this by scanning known launcher locations for the selected game.

Click Browse to set it manually. Modrex validates the path and identifies your launcher when you save.

Override the auto-detected launcher. Launcher support is game-specific; see Supported games for the current matrix. Modrex uses this setting to determine how to start the active game when you click Launch.

Controls where new Crime Boss mods install by default: Automatic (the official ModKit location, CrimeBoss/Mods) or Always ask, which prompts you to choose ModKit or the legacy ~mods location before each install. See Crime Boss for the difference between the two targets and how to move an already-installed mod later.

Command-line arguments appended to every launch for the active game. Not available for Xbox app installs.

Shown for PAYDAY 3 on the Xbox app. Removes the game’s crash reporter files before each launch, which works around an empty crash report window. Off by default.

Manually check whether a new version of Modrex is available. Modrex also checks automatically on every launch.

Modrex may ask whether you want to share anonymous usage analytics. This is optional and can be changed here at any time. Analytics are off unless you opt in.

When enabled, Modrex shows the active game in your Discord profile while the app is open, along with a Get Modrex button. Enabled by default.

Choose the language used by the Modrex interface. The selector lists every translation included with your installed version. Missing text in a partial translation falls back to English.

To improve a translation or add a language, start with the contribution guide.

The highlight color used across the app.

Starts SISR (Steam Input System Redirector) before a game launches, so Steam Input controllers work with games started outside Steam. Off by default.

Opens the Modrex log file. Attach it to bug reports to help diagnose issues.

Sign in to Nexus Mods to browse its catalog and send Mod Manager Download installs back to Modrex. Signing out disconnects the account from the app.

Open the active game folder, each managed mod folder, Modrex’s data folder, or its install folder. The Storage section shows cached data and lets you clear caches or reset app settings to their defaults.

The About tab links to the Modrex website, Discord, GitHub repository, and GitHub Sponsors.

Modrex stores its state and settings in the following locations:

Platform Path
Windows %APPDATA%\Modrex
Linux ~/.local/share/modrex

The mod state file (.modrex.json) lives inside the active game’s managed mods folder so it travels with the game directory on dual-boot setups. Older .pd3mm.json state files are migrated automatically. See Priority and state for details.
