Installing mods
From Browse
Section titled “From Browse”The Browse tab shows the sources available for the active game. Ready or Not uses Nexus Mods. Other games offer ModWorkshop, Nexus Mods, or both.
For ModWorkshop, click any mod to open its detail page, then click Install. Modrex downloads the file, extracts it if needed, and places it in the correct location automatically. The Install button shows a live download percentage and progress bar while the file is transferring.
To browse Nexus Mods, sign in from Settings > Advanced > Nexus Mods Account. If the game has multiple sources, select Nexus at the top of Browse. Open the mod’s Files tab on Nexus and choose Mod Manager Download. Nexus hands the download back to Modrex, which shows its progress and installs supported files into the active game. Ready or Not Pak downloads need an archive from Nexus to preserve their filenames. See Ready or Not for loose Pak files, movie replacements, and configuration presets.
Use search, category, and sort controls to narrow a catalog. ModWorkshop also supports tag filters: select a tag once to include it, again to exclude it, and once more to clear that filter.
Supported local file formats: .pak, .zip, .7z, .rar, .tar.gz, .tar.xz.
Archives can contain loose .pak files, directory mods, mod_overrides content, UE4SS Lua mods, or
game-specific folder layouts. Modrex routes entries based on the active game’s install targets. See
Archives and loaders for the classification rules and
Supported games for the exact targets for each game.
Multi-file mods
Section titled “Multi-file mods”Some mods ship multiple files or folders inside a single archive. When Modrex detects this, it opens a picker so you can choose which entries to install. Ready or Not archives start with no entries selected, unless Modrex can match your selection from an earlier version. Choose only the files the author tells you to use. Other games pre-select entries by default.
Loader and host-mod dependencies
Section titled “Loader and host-mod dependencies”Some mods require a loader such as SuperBLT, DAHM, or UE4SS. When Modrex can install a required loader directly, the dependency warning includes an install action. If a dependency is hosted offsite, Modrex opens the external download page so you can install it manually.
When multiple dependencies can be auto-installed, the dialog shows an Install all button to handle them in one click. Each install button shows a progress indicator while the download is running, and clicking a dependency’s row opens its mod detail page.
Some PAYDAY 2 content packs belong inside another host mod instead of directly inside the game. When Modrex recognizes that pattern, it prompts you to install the required host mod and then places the pack inside it. If an archive cannot be placed safely, Modrex shows the author’s instructions instead of guessing. See Archives and loaders for how host-mod content is handled.
External links
Section titled “External links”If a ModWorkshop mod’s download is hosted outside ModWorkshop (external link), Modrex shows a warning and opens the link in your browser. Download the file manually, then install it from a local file.
From a local file
Section titled “From a local file”Drag a supported file from your file explorer into the Modrex window. Modrex handles extraction and placement the same way as a Browse install.
Enable and disable
Section titled “Enable and disable”Toggle the switch next to any mod to enable or disable it without removing it. Disabled mods move
to the target’s disabled/ folder, and single-file mods also get a .disabled extension. They stay
on disk, but the game ignores them.
Removing
Section titled “Removing”Click Remove on a mod. Its file or folder is deleted from disk and the mod leaves Modrex’s list.
Removing is permanent. To keep the files but stop using the mod, disable it instead.
Reinstalling and updating
Section titled “Reinstalling and updating”Click Reinstall on a mod to re-download and replace its current file. When updates are available, click Review updates, pick the mods, then click Update Selected.
The News tab shows official headlines, summaries, and images for the active game, scraped from paydaythegame.com. It’s only available for games with a supported news source. Click Refresh to check for new articles, or Read article to open one in your browser.
